EDUCATION OUTREACH INSTRUCTOR
Emily Freeland is the Education Outreach Instructor on the Verizon Innovative Learning Explorer Lab. She earned an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction (Science Education) from the University of Maryland, where she worked with the MADE CLEAR Learning Science Research team studying climate change education. She earned B.S. in Marine Science (Biology) from Eckerd College, where outside of the classroom she served as a Boat Captain and Instructor for the Eckerd College Search and Rescue Team. Emily developed a passion for informal science education while teaching marine science education programs at various aquariums in Florida and she gained experience working in the formal education system serving as an AmeriCorps member in the City Year program in Orlando. The culmination of her education, experiences, and passion led her to the MdBio Foundation in May of 2017. While not at work, Emily prefers to spend her time beneath the waves SCUBA diving.
